Former convict Steve Lacey (Gene Nelson) has established an honest life with his wife Ellen (Phyllis Kirk), but his past returns when a wounded former cellmate arrives after a fatal gas-station robbery. Escaped prisoners force Steve to help with a bank heist, while Detective Lieutenant Sims (Sterling Hayden) is willing to use the frightened couple as bait. Andre de Toth directs this crime thriller about a man trapped between criminals and the police.
