hair-high-blu-ray-w-o-slip
Hair High [Blu-ray]

Hair High Blu-ray brings Bill Plympton’s cheerfully deranged 2004 animated cult musical to Blu-ray for the first time in the U.S., preserving its hand-drawn insanity, hormonal chaos, and warped nostalgia in a definitive presentation. A savage cartoon riff on 1950s teen romances, drive-in movies, and high school mythology, the film twists classic Americana into something grotesque, hilarious, and unmistakably Plympton.

Set at Echo Lake High, the story centers on star quarterback Rod and head cheerleader Cherri, the untouchable royalty of their school. Their dominance is challenged by Spud, a scooter-riding new kid whose awkward presence threatens the established social order. What begins as a cruel power struggle spirals into a fever dream of repressed desire, exploding bodies, singing genital metaphors, and violent slapstick romance. Beneath the outrageous visuals lies a surprisingly sharp satire of conformity, masculinity, sexuality, and adolescent cruelty.

Voiced by an eclectic ensemble cast including Sarah Silverman, Dermot Mulroney, Eric Gilliland, Martha Plimpton, Beverly D’Angelo, and David Carradine, Hair High stands as one of Plympton’s most unfiltered and aggressive works. Packed with grotesque sight gags, musical numbers, and grotesquely elastic anatomy, the film proudly embraces bad taste as an art form.

directed by: Bill Plympton
starring: Sarah Silverman, Dermot Mulroney, Eric Gilliland, Martha Plimpton, Beverly D’Angelo, David Carradine
2004 / 78 min / English

Audio: stereo

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0747/8096/6982/files/file_aba33137-b3d3-4443-b2a0-0a3c6d811cf6.jpg?v=1791342608
