Madadayo (1993) Limited Edition (Australian Import) [Blu-ray]

Madadayo Limited Edition Blu-ray presents the thirtieth and final film from legendary director Akira Kurosawa. Based on the life of academic and author Hyakken Uchida, this moving late-career drama offers a warm, gently comic reflection on aging, friendship, memory and the enduring bond between teacher and students.

In postwar Tokyo, beloved writer-professor Hyakken Uchida retires from teaching but remains closely connected to his former pupils. Through hardship, celebration and the passing years, their devotion helps sustain him, while their recurring gatherings become a ritual of affection, gratitude and refusal to say goodbye.

Told through intimate vignettes and quiet humour, Madadayo stands as Kurosawa’s farewell to cinema: a thoughtful and humane final work from one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. This limited edition Imprint Asia release includes a high-definition Blu-ray presentation, new interview, feature-length documentary, Kurosawa featurette and more.
