stir-blu-ray
Stir [Blu-ray]

Stir Blu-ray presents the North American disc premiere of Stephen Wallace’s explosive Australian prison drama, restored and loaded with over five hours of supplements. Inspired by the real-life 1974 Bathurst Prison riots in New South Wales, Stir Blu-ray tells the incendiary inside story through the eyes of career criminal China Jackson (Bryan Brown), whose return to prison after exposing guard brutality ignites simmering tensions between inmates and officers. Written by former Bathurst inmate Bob Jewson, the film is a raw, furious portrait of institutional abuse and resistance, hailed as an “intense and authentic account of a brutal system” and nominated for 13 AFI Awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor. Stir Blu-ray has been newly scanned in 2K from the 35mm interpositive preserved at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, finally giving this confrontational classic the presentation it deserves.

directed by: Stephen Wallace
starring: Bryan Brown, Max Phipps, John Frawley
1980 / 102 min

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0747/8096/6982/files/file_53d59c71-8b25-44b8-8c5c-e97c9f3a9297.jpg?v=1791343196
