The Mask of Satan [Blu-ray]

The Mask of Satan Blu-ray brings Lamberto Bava’s long-overlooked 1989 shocker to North America for the first time in a newly scanned 2K restoration. A modern reimagining of Mario Bava’s BLACK SUNDAY, this icy descent into satanic horror blends late-’80s Italian excess with supernatural dread, practical effects, and relentless atmosphere.

When a group of skiers becomes trapped in a frozen crevasse, they uncover the preserved corpse of a woman long buried beneath the ice. Their discovery unleashes an ancient evil, opening a gateway to the damned and triggering a violent chain of possession, vengeance, and ritualistic terror. Also known as DEMONS 5: THE DEVIL’S VEIL, the film stands as one of Lamberto Bava’s most ambitious genre works, featuring effects by Sergio Stivaletti and a haunting score by Simon Boswell.

Starring Mary Sellers, Debora Caprioglio, and Michele Soavi, The Mask of Satan captures a transitional moment in Italian horror — where gothic legacy collides with late-’80s stylization — delivering a brutal, snowbound nightmare that fans of DEMONS and THE CHURCH shouldn’t miss.
