Written and directed by Lo Wei, the filmmaker behind Bruce Lee’s international breakthroughs The Big Boss and Fist of Fury, the film was conceived to channel the global appetite for hard-hitting kung fu cinema in the wake of Lee’s death.

Jimmy Wang Yu stars as the Tattooed Dragon, a virtuous wandering fighter who repeatedly puts himself in harm’s way to protect the vulnerable. After being badly injured in combat, he is taken in by a humble farmer and his sweetheart, only to discover their peaceful village is being systematically exploited by a ruthless gangster and his crew. By installing a casino and encouraging gambling addiction, the criminals bleed the villagers dry in pursuit of total control over the region’s resources. Refusing to stand by, the Tattooed Dragon wages a one-man war against organized crime, turning moral outrage into explosive martial action.

Featuring Sylvia Chang and a villainous turn from James Tien, with cinematography by Cheung Yiu-tsou and stunt coordination by Simon Hsu, The Tattooed Dragon exemplifies the raw, muscular style that defined early-1970s kung fu cinema. Eureka Classics presents this limited edition Blu-ray from a new 2K restoration, offering an essential upgrade for fans of classic chop-socky and Golden Harvest history.

directed by: Lo Wei
starring: Jimmy Wang Yu, Samuel Hui, Sylvia Chang, James Tien
1973 / 94 min

Audio: Stereo
Language: Mandarin
Discs: 1

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0747/8096/6982/files/file_cad4c2d8-c400-4661-bf40-1b9e1d993107.jpg?v=1791342751
