themroc-limited-edition-blu-ray
Themroc Limited Edition [Blu-ray]

Themroc Blu-ray presents one of the most confrontational and anarchic cult films of 1970s French cinema. Starring Michel Piccoli as a repressed bachelor house painter living with his mother, the film follows a sudden and violent break from social conformity after a humiliating encounter at work pushes him to dismantle every structure governing his life.

Directed by Claude Faraldo, Themroc is a taboo-busting satire made on a shoestring budget and famously constructed with no intelligible dialogue. Stripping language away entirely, the film uses physicality, sound, and grotesque humour to eviscerate postwar labour culture, gender roles, and bourgeois morality. Piccoli’s transformation from obedient worker to feral urban caveman becomes both absurd comedy and savage political provocation.

Long unavailable on home video in the United States, Themroc stands as both a reaction to the post-1968 protest movements and a precursor to later strands of French extreme cinema. This Limited Edition Blu-ray presents the film from a new 4K restoration, finally restoring one of European cinema’s most controversial and unclassifiable works to circulation.

directed by: Claude Faraldo
starring: Michel Piccoli, Béatrice Romand, Marilù Tolo, Patrick Dewaere, Coluche
1973 / 109 min / French mono

Language: French
Audio: mono

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0747/8096/6982/files/file_1afe7d4e-ebe6-4576-a456-e4a7849dc81d.jpg?v=1791342666
