Orders & Payments

What payment methods do you accept?

Peak Books accepts the payment methods available at checkout, including major credit cards and Shop Pay. Available payment options may vary depending on your device and checkout method.

When is payment taken for my order?

Payment is processed at checkout for all orders, including pre-orders and Special Orders. We do not wait until an item ships to collect payment.

Can I cancel an order after it is placed?

Cancellation requests are not guaranteed and must be made before the order has been prepared for shipment.

If a customer-requested cancellation is approved, you can choose either full store credit or a refund to the original payment method less a 3% processing fee. Once an order has been prepared, fulfilled or shipped, it can no longer be cancelled.

If Peak Books cancels an item because it cannot be supplied, the affected amount is refunded in full to the original payment method.

Can I add items to or make changes to an order after placing it?

If your order is still eligible for editing, you can use the Edit Order option on your order status page to add items or make available changes. Any additional amount due must be paid before the changes are completed.

Items cannot be removed and quantities cannot be decreased through self-service order editing. If you need help with another change, contact us as soon as possible before your order is prepared for shipment.

Items added to a pending order are treated as part of that order for shipping purposes. If the updated merchandise total reaches our free-shipping threshold, shipping will be recalculated automatically where eligible. Combined orders ship together once all items are available.

Can I change my shipping address after ordering?

If your order is still eligible for editing, available order details can be updated through the Edit Order option on your order status page.

If you cannot make the required change there, contact us as soon as possible. Once an order has been prepared or shipped, an address change may no longer be possible.

Will Peak Books combine multiple orders for shipping?

When multiple orders for the same customer are fully ready to ship at the same time, Peak Books may automatically combine them into one shipment when practical. You do not need to contact us to request this.

If you would like pending orders combined before they are ready to ship, contact us and we may be able to combine them where practical. Combined orders will ship together once all items are available.

If the combined merchandise total reaches our free-shipping threshold and qualifies for free standard shipping, any eligible shipping charges already paid will be refunded.

Do you limit quantities on certain titles?

Yes. Select titles may have a purchase limit, including a limit of one copy per customer.

Limits may apply across related orders, accounts, households, shipping addresses, billing addresses and payment methods. Orders that exceed or attempt to bypass a posted purchase limit may be adjusted or cancelled.

Do you offer price adjustments or apply promotions to previous orders?

No. Prices may change due to availability, supplier costs, market conditions or promotions. We do not refund or adjust price differences on previously placed orders, and sale prices or promotional discounts are not applied retroactively.

Shipping & Pickup

Where does Peak Books ship?

Peak Books currently ships within Canada only. We do not offer international shipping at this time.

How much is shipping and when is it free?

Standard shipping is $6.99 for eligible single-item orders and $9.99 for orders containing two or more items. Some thicker or heavier single items may also require the $9.99 shipping rate.

Free standard shipping is available on qualifying orders of $125 or more after discounts and before tax and shipping, where available for the destination and shipment. Final shipping rates are shown at checkout.

For complete shipping, pickup, tracking and fulfillment details, see Shipping & Pickup.

How quickly will my order ship?

Orders generally ship within 1–2 business days once every item in the order is available and ready to ship.

Orders containing pre-orders, Special Orders or other items that are not yet available will be held until the entire order is ready. Processing may take slightly longer during major releases, promotions or unusually busy periods.

Will my order include tracking?

Most shipped orders include tracking. The carrier and shipping service used may vary depending on the item, destination and available service.

Eligible single-item orders to remote addresses, PO Boxes or locations with limited tracked service may be sent using an available Canada Post service without tracking when suitable for the item. Shipments sent without tracking will not have tracking updates or delivery scans.

How does Calgary pickup work?

Free pickup is available in Calgary. Select Pickup at checkout and wait for your ready-for-pickup email before arranging your visit.

Once your order is ready, that email will include the current pickup instructions and booking link. Available pickup times are provided through the booking link.

What should I do if my shipment is delayed or missing?

Delivery is generally estimated at 2–8 business days after shipment, but carrier volume, weather, remote destinations and other delays can affect delivery times.

If a tracked shipment appears significantly delayed or missing, contact us so we can review the available tracking information and investigate with the carrier where appropriate. Shipments sent without tracking have limited carrier information available for review.

Pre-Orders & Special Orders

What is a pre-order?

A pre-order lets you order an upcoming release before it is available to ship. Pre-ordering can be a good way to secure a copy, especially for limited or high-demand titles. Some releases may also be offered at a lower pre-order price than their later in-stock price, although future pricing is not guaranteed.

Payment is processed at checkout, and the item will ship once it has been received and your order is ready to fulfill. Release dates and arrival estimates are based on information from labels and distributors and may change.

When will my pre-order ship?

Pre-orders ship once the item has arrived at Peak Books and your full order is ready to fulfill.

We aim to ship as close to the listed release or arrival date as possible, but distributor timing, imports, customs, carrier delays and other factors can affect when inventory reaches us.

For more about how combined orders are handled, see Shipping & Pickup.

What happens if a release date changes?

Release dates and estimated arrival windows can change at any time based on label or distributor updates.

If a date changes, your pre-order remains active and will ship once the item becomes available. A release-date change does not make the order eligible for cancellation.

Can I order in-stock items and pre-orders together?

Yes, but the full order will ship together once every item is available.

If you want an in-stock item sooner, place it as a separate order.

What happens if my order contains pre-orders with different release dates?

The order will be held until all items are available and ready to ship.

If you want items from different release periods sooner, place separate orders so each can ship as it becomes available.

Can I cancel a pre-order or Special Order after placing it?

Pre-order cancellation requests may be approved before fulfillment. If approved, you can choose either full store credit or a refund to the original payment method less a 3% processing fee.

Special Orders cannot be cancelled once placed because the item is sourced specifically after purchase. If Peak Books is unable to supply a pre-order or Special Order, the affected item will be refunded in full to the original payment method.

What happens if a pre-order or Special Order becomes unavailable?

If Peak Books cannot obtain the item from the distributor or supplier, the affected item will be cancelled and refunded to the original payment method.

If the rest of the order can still be fulfilled, the remaining items will continue as normal.

What is the difference between Pre-Order, Arriving Soon and Special Order?

Pre-Order means the title is available to order before release or before stock arrives.
Arriving Soon means inventory has been confirmed and is already on the way to Peak Books.
Special Order means the item is not normally stocked and is sourced from a distributor after you place your order.

Imports & Region Compatibility

What is an import edition?

An import edition is a release sourced from outside Canada, such as the United Kingdom, Australia or the United States.

Import editions may differ from Canadian releases in packaging, artwork, bonus features, included discs and region compatibility. Check the individual product listing for details about the specific edition being sold.

What do Region A, Region B and Region Free mean?

Blu-ray discs can be restricted to specific playback regions.

Region A includes Canada and the United States.
Region B includes the United Kingdom, Australia and most of Europe, among other regions.
Region Free discs can play on compatible Blu-ray players regardless of region.

A region-locked disc requires a player that supports that region.

Will a Region B Blu-ray play on a Canadian Blu-ray player?

A genuinely Region B-locked Blu-ray will not normally play on a standard Canadian Region A player. You would need a Region B or region-free Blu-ray player.

However, the region marking printed on the packaging does not always tell the whole story. Some Australian releases, including titles from labels such as Umbrella and Imprint, may be marked Region B even when the disc itself has been confirmed as region free. Some UK Blu-rays marked Region B have also been verified as region free.

Check the individual Peak Books listing for the compatibility information available for that release. If you are unsure about a specific title, contact us before ordering.

Are 4K Ultra HD discs region free?

4K Ultra HD discs are generally region free and can play on compatible 4K players worldwide. A small number of releases may have playback restrictions, so check the individual product listing for confirmed compatibility.

If a 4K release includes additional Blu-ray discs, always check the listing because those Blu-rays may have their own region restrictions.

Why can a 4K release include a Region B Blu-ray?

The discs inside a set can have different region compatibility.

For example, an imported release may contain a region-free 4K Ultra HD disc alongside a standard Blu-ray that is locked to Region B. In that case, the 4K disc will play on a compatible Canadian 4K player, while the Region B Blu-ray requires a Region B or region-free Blu-ray player. This is a common setup with imported 4K releases.

How can I check region compatibility before ordering?

Check the individual Peak Books product listing before ordering. We include region information when it is known and confirmed for that specific edition.

Region compatibility can vary even between releases from the same country or label, and packaging markings are not always definitive. This is particularly important with Australian releases that may be marked Region B but have region-free discs, and UK releases where some titles are Region B while others have been confirmed region free.

If you are unsure about a specific release, email us before ordering and we’ll help you check the available compatibility information.

Products, Packaging & Condition

Are all new items sealed?

No. New items are unused, but packaging varies by release and label. Some titles may arrive factory sealed, while others are not sealed as part of their original packaging.

For releases with a slipcover, the outer slipcover may be sealed, or the case inside the slipcover may be sealed instead. An unsealed item is not necessarily pre-owned.

Are slipcovers guaranteed?

Not always. We do our best to indicate when a title includes a slipcover, but availability can vary by pressing, distributor shipment and when the item was received.

When a specific edition or listing is stated to include a slipcover, we will supply it as described. Otherwise, slipcover availability is not guaranteed, and later shipments of the same title may not include one even if earlier copies did.

What condition should I expect from slipcovers and collector packaging?

We inspect items before shipping and pack orders carefully, but mint condition cannot be guaranteed, including on sealed items.

Slipcovers, Steelbooks, rigid boxes and other collector packaging can sometimes have light manufacturing, shelf or transit wear such as small scuffs, corner wear or minor imperfections. Significant damage is handled differently and should be reported to us.

How are Steelbooks packed for shipping?

Steelbooks are packed in a box with protective bubble wrap to help prevent damage in transit.

We do not ship Steelbooks in bubble mailers.

What does Pre-Owned mean?

Pre-Owned items have had a previous owner and are sold in the condition described on the product listing.

Because condition can vary from copy to copy, review the individual listing carefully before ordering. If a Pre-Owned item arrives with significant damage that was not disclosed in the listing, contact us.

What are Damaged & Discounted items?

Damaged & Discounted items are new items offered at a reduced price because of disclosed cosmetic issues such as cracked cases, creases, dents, scuffs or packaging wear.

The type and severity of damage can vary, so check the individual listing before ordering. Damaged & Discounted items are sold as-is and are final sale.

What if a new item has a loose disc or minor cosmetic damage?

Minor cosmetic issues such as a cracked case, small dent, scuff, light packaging wear or loose disc do not automatically qualify an item for a replacement or refund.

Factory-sealed items can occasionally have a disc come loose inside the case during manufacturing or transit, and we cannot open sealed products to check this before shipping. If an issue is more than minor or affects the usability of the product, contact us so we can review it. Where appropriate, we may offer a replacement case, replacement item or store credit.

Returns & Order Issues

What is Peak Books’ return policy?

Peak Books provides support for items that arrive with significant damage, an incorrect or missing item, or a confirmed product defect.

We do not accept change-of-mind returns. Damaged & Discounted items are sold as-is and are final sale. If a Pre-Owned item arrives with significant damage that was not disclosed in the listing, contact us.

What should I do if my order arrives damaged, incorrect or incomplete?

Contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and details about the issue.

For damage claims, include clear photos of the item, affected packaging, shipping box and disc hub when relevant. If an item is missing or incorrect, let us know what you received so we can review the order and determine the appropriate resolution.

If you need help with an order, contact us through our Contact Us page.

How long do I have to report damage or a defective disc?

Visible shipping or packaging damage, incorrect items and missing items should be reported within 7 days of delivery.

A genuine manufacturing or playback defect may be reported within 30 days of delivery, giving you additional time to open and play the disc.

Do minor cosmetic issues qualify for a replacement or refund?

Not automatically. Minor issues such as light shelf wear, small dents, scuffs, cracked standard cases, loose discs or other cosmetic imperfections may occur during manufacturing or transit.

Where appropriate, Peak Books may offer a replacement case, store credit or another resolution at our discretion. Significant damage is reviewed separately.

Can I return an item because I changed my mind?

No. Peak Books does not accept change-of-mind returns.

Please review the product description, format, region compatibility and other listing details carefully before ordering. If you are unsure about a release, contact us before placing your order.

What if a disc is defective or will not play?

If a disc has a genuine manufacturing or playback defect, contact us within 30 days of delivery and describe the issue. We may ask you to provide photos, video or additional information and to confirm that the disc has been tested on compatible equipment.

Region incompatibility is not considered a defect when the region information was correctly disclosed on the product listing. Player or equipment compatibility issues are also not considered product defects.

How are approved damage or defect claims resolved?

Approved claims may be resolved with a replacement, replacement part or case, store credit, or a refund to the original payment method, depending on the circumstances and availability.

If a return is required, the item must be returned and received before the replacement, store credit or refund is issued. Return shipping is covered when Peak Books requires a return as part of an approved claim.
