A Better Place: Director's Cut [Blu-ray]

A Better Place Blu-ray presents the harrowing and emotionally charged debut feature from director Vincent Pereira, an uncompromising teen thriller produced by View Askew Productions and executive produced by Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier. Set against the pressure-cooker environment of American high school life, the film explores alienation, friendship, and the terrifying consequences of unchecked rage.

New student Barret Michaelson, portrayed by Robert DiPatri, endures relentless harassment on his first day at a new school and finds refuge in an unlikely friendship with Ryan Walker, played by Eion Bailey. Intelligent, withdrawn, and increasingly volatile, Ryan offers Barret protection and companionship—but his philosophical musings soon give way to darker, more violent ideologies. When Barret attempts to reconcile with the classmates Ryan despises, their bond fractures, forcing Barret into a desperate struggle to escape Ryan’s spiral of hatred and destruction.

Praised for its honesty and emotional weight, A Better Place confronts teen violence without sensationalism, balancing raw intensity with genuine empathy. This Director’s Cut Blu-ray marks the film’s first-ever release on Blu-ray, featuring a brand-new 2K restoration and an expansive set of archival and newly produced extras that illuminate its creation, legacy, and relevance.
