After the death of her friend Allison, Mary Beth discovers personal video diaries documenting Allison’s experience of breast cancer. Together with filmmaker Alia Tarraf and other friends, she travels to Ireland to scatter Allison’s ashes. Returning home does not bring the sense of resolution they expected, and their search for a way to live with grief continues.
Directed by Mary Elizabeth Gentle and Tarraf, A Hidden Star follows a second journey to Ireland with psychologist Staci Emerson. Diary footage, remembrance and the friends’ conversations form a documentary about loss, the bonds that remain after someone dies and the gradual search for hope. This BayView Blu-ray presents the film in English with English SDH captions.
Directed by: Mary Elizabeth Gentle and Alia Tarraf
