A Question of Silence [Blu-ray]

A Question of Silence Blu-ray presents Marleen Gorris’ confrontational and landmark feminist drama that stunned audiences on its original release and remains as urgent today. In broad daylight, three women—total strangers to one another—brutally kill a male shopkeeper without any apparent premeditation. Assigned to uncover their motive, psychiatrist Janine van den Bos (Cox Habbema) is drawn into a disturbing psychological and social investigation that forces her to confront the unspoken structures of power, violence, and female rage embedded in everyday life.

As Janine digs deeper, the case becomes less about criminal pathology and more about systemic oppression, gendered experience, and collective silence. Provocative, radical, and fiercely intelligent, A Question of Silence stands as a defining work of European feminist cinema and announced Marleen Gorris as a major voice years before her Academy Award–winning Antonia’s Line. Cult Epics presents A Question of Silence Blu-ray in a newly restored high-definition edition with extensive archival extras.
