Adela Has Not Had Supper Yet [Blu-ray]

Adela Has Not Had Supper Yet Blu-ray presents Oldřich Lipský’s beloved Czech cult classic, a delirious blend of slapstick comedy, mystery, and surreal fantasy beautifully restored by the Národní filmový archiv in Prague. Inspired by the Nick Carter dime-novel detective stories, the film playfully collides nineteenth-century gadgetry with silent-serial adventure and absurdist humour.

Nick Carter, America’s greatest detective, arrives in Prague to investigate a missing dog and instead finds himself ensnared in a plot involving his old nemesis, a mad gardener, and a gigantic carnivorous plant. As the mystery spirals into chaos, the film unleashes a parade of eccentric inventions, deadpan gags, and fantastical set pieces that transform the investigation into a joyous comic spectacle.

A loving tribute to old-world Prague and classic adventure cinema, Adela Has Not Had Supper Yet is packed with surreal imagery, including the unforgettable man-eating plant designed and animated by Jan Švankmajer. This Blu-ray release brings the film to audiences with a pristine restoration and an outstanding selection of bonus material.
