An Unfinished Film [Blu-ray]

An Unfinished Film Blu-ray presents a formally daring and emotionally resonant reflection on creativity, uncertainty, and collective crisis from acclaimed director Lou Ye. In January 2020, filmmaker Xiaorui reunites his cast and crew to complete a project abandoned a decade earlier, only for the production to be abruptly overtaken by the onset of COVID-19. Forced into lockdown together, the filmmakers confront not only logistical and artistic challenges, but the profound emotional weight of a world rapidly shutting down. Blending fiction with documentary footage, the film captures the fragility of plans, the persistence of artistic impulse, and the shared experience of isolation.

Hailed as “an utterly unique and very important movie about Covid” by The Guardian, An Unfinished Film stands as one of the most thoughtful and tactful cinematic responses to the pandemic. Issued by Film Movement, this special limited edition Blu-ray includes a slipcover designed by Dylan Haley, strictly limited to 500 units, and pairs the feature with contextual supplements that deepen its historical and artistic impact.
