Angel's Egg (1985) (Australian Import) [4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray]

Angel's Egg 4K Ultra HD is a haunting, visionary landmark of experimental animation from director Mamoru Oshii and artist Yoshitaka Amano. Created long before Ghost in the Shell redefined cyberpunk cinema, this enigmatic feature remains one of the most philosophically daring works in anime history.

Set within a flooded, desolate city, a young girl protects a mysterious egg she believes contains an angel. When a boy armed with an enormous weapon arrives from a dreamlike chariot, their fragile connection unfolds in a world shaped by silence, ruin, faith, and memory. Sparse dialogue and arresting imagery create a hypnotic meditation on existence, belief, and loss.

Presented here in 4K Ultra HD with HDR10, Angel's Egg receives a stunning restoration that preserves its painterly compositions and shadow-drenched atmosphere, reaffirming its status as a cult masterpiece and essential work in Mamoru Oshii’s filmography.
