Badge 373 Blu-ray arrives from Vinegar Syndrome’s Cinématographe sub-label, dedicated to restoring and recontextualizing overlooked works of American cinema. Presented in a limited J-card MediaBook edition, this release features a brand new 4K restoration of Howard W. Koch’s gritty New York crime drama.

Robert Duvall delivers a ferocious performance as NYPD detective Eddie Ryan, who embarks on a violent quest for revenge after the death of his partner. As his tactics grow increasingly reckless and racially charged, Ryan finds himself cast out from the very force he once served, transforming into a rogue vigilante navigating a volatile city teetering on the edge of change. Inspired by real-life detective Eddie Egan—also the basis for The French Connection—Badge 373 captures a raw portrait of 1970s New York, long overshadowed but deeply emblematic of its era.
