Bakemono [Blu-ray]

Bakemono Blu-ray is a modern Japanese creature feature that combines practical effects, body horror and dark humour into an inventive monster movie experience. Set almost entirely within a rundown Tokyo apartment, the film delivers a claustrophobic nightmare where unsuspecting visitors encounter something horrifying lurking just beyond the walls.

A steady stream of tenants, visitors and strangers pass through the same inexpensive Tokyo apartment, each unaware that a gruesome creature is waiting in the shadows. As new victims arrive and disappear, the apartment becomes the centre of an increasingly bizarre and terrifying series of encounters.

Driven by practical effects work and an unconventional structure, Bakemono blends horror, suspense and creature-feature thrills while exploring the hidden darkness that can exist beneath everyday urban life. This cult horror production has earned attention for its ambitious monster effects and creative independent filmmaking.
