Beijing Bicycle (2001) (Australian Import) [Blu-ray]

Beijing Bicycle Blu-ray presents Wang Xiaoshuai’s internationally acclaimed coming-of-age drama, a powerful portrait of youth, class division and survival in modern Beijing.

Worldwide first on Blu-ray, this award-winning drama follows a seventeen-year-old courier whose livelihood depends on his bicycle. When it is stolen, his desperate search through the sprawling city leads him into conflict with another teenager who unknowingly purchased it. Through their struggle over ownership, director Wang Xiaoshuai crafts a moving and socially observant story about ambition, identity and economic hardship in rapidly changing urban China.

Winner of the Jury Grand Prix Silver Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival, Beijing Bicycle remains one of the defining films of early 2000s Chinese cinema.
