Blackboard Jungle (US Import) [Blu-ray]

Glenn Ford and Sidney Poitier star in this adaptation of Evan Hunter’s novel about a teacher facing a violent inner-city school. He refuses to give up on his students, even after an assault and threats against his pregnant wife. The film brought troubled American classrooms to the screen and used rock ’n’ roll in its soundtrack at a time when the music was still controversial. Richard Brooks directs this drama, also featuring Anne Francis and Louis Calhern.
