Winner of the French Touch prize in the Critics’ Week lineup of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Blue Sun Palace is an intimate, sensitively observed drama following three Chinese immigrants in Flushing, Queens — a construction worker and two massage-parlour employees — whose lives and relationships shift after a tragic Lunar New Year incident. Shot on film by DP Norm Li, the film blends social isolation, emotional turbulence and quiet beauty.
