Conversation Piece [Blu-ray]

Conversation Piece Blu-ray presents Luchino Visconti’s late-career masterpiece, a deeply introspective drama set within the quiet confines of a Roman palazzo. A reclusive American professor (Burt Lancaster) lives alone, surrounded by art, routine and carefully maintained distance from the outside world.

His solitude is abruptly disrupted when a brash Italian noblewoman (Silvana Mangano), her volatile lover Konrad (Helmut Berger) and their entourage force their way into his home, renting the upstairs apartment. What begins as an intrusion slowly evolves into a tense and intimate psychological dynamic, as the professor becomes drawn into a relationship shaped by desire, control and emotional dependency. Visconti’s penultimate film reflects on class, sexuality, fascism and mortality with quiet intensity, standing as one of his most personal works.

Restored from the original 35mm camera negative and optical sound elements, this presentation preserves the film’s rich visual texture and nuanced performances.
