Cruel Story of Youth [4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray]

Cruel Story of Youth 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray presents Nagisa Oshima’s explosive breakthrough film, a fierce and uncompromising portrait of rebellion, desire and disillusionment in postwar Japan.

Set against a fractured social landscape, the film follows teenage lovers Makoto and Kiyoshi as they drift into a life of exploitation and petty crime, turning survival into a dangerous game. Their volatile relationship unfolds as both romance and self-destruction, reflecting a world where youthful idealism has curdled into anger and opportunism.

Charged with vivid colour and restless energy, the film stands as a landmark of Japanese cinema, capturing the emergence of Oshima’s radical voice while confronting social decay with startling force.
