Damnation (UK Import) [4K Ultra HD + Region B Blu-ray]

Damnation 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray presents Bela Tarr's landmark arthouse masterpiece in a stunning new 4K restoration. Widely regarded as the film that established Tarr as one of the great filmmakers of European cinema, it showcases the haunting black-and-white imagery, brooding long takes and bleak landscapes that would later define works such as Satantango, Werckmeister Harmonies and The Turin Horse.

In a desolate landscape, Karrer has lived for years cut off from the rest of the world, passing his time staring at coal carts disappearing into the distance beneath an endless rain. His only social links are the Titanik, a bar where he spends every night, and its owner, Willarsky. Attracted to a married woman who sings there, he becomes consumed by desire, setting in motion a chain of events marked by obsession, betrayal and despair.

A hypnotic and atmospheric meditation on isolation and longing, Damnation remains one of Bela Tarr's most acclaimed films and a cornerstone of modern world cinema.
