Dark Water [Limited Edition] (UK Import) [4K Ultra HD]

Dark Water 4K Ultra HD brings Hideo Nakata’s haunting follow-up to Ring to Ultra HD in a beautifully restored presentation that deepens its atmosphere of grief, dread, and supernatural unease. Based on a short story by Koji Suzuki, the film reframes J-horror tropes through the quiet devastation of motherhood, turning leaking ceilings and darkened hallways into vessels for overwhelming emotional terror.

Recently divorced and fighting for custody of her daughter Ikuko, Yoshimi moves into a decaying apartment complex where strange sounds, unsettling visions, and a persistent water stain begin to invade her fragile sense of stability. As the building’s secrets slowly surface, Dark Water transforms domestic anxiety into something profoundly tragic and terrifying, blending supernatural horror with an aching portrait of parental sacrifice.

Shot with muted elegance by Junichiro Hayashi and anchored by a deeply restrained central performance from Hitomi Kuroki, Dark Water stands as one of the most emotionally resonant entries in modern Japanese horror. This Arrow Video limited edition presents the film in Dolby Vision with extensive new and archival extras, cementing its status as a genre classic.
