Death of Nintendo [Blu-ray]

Death of Nintendo Blu-ray captures a vivid coming-of-age story set in 1990s Manila, where four friends — Paolo, Mimaw, Kachi, and Gilligan — navigate adolescence against a backdrop of rolling blackouts and the looming eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. As earthquakes disrupt daily life and shut down their beloved video-game escapes, the kids wander the streets, confront fear, friendship, desire, and masculinity, and chase answers in increasingly misguided ways. Raya Martin’s debut feature blends nostalgia, humour, and tenderness into a colourful portrait of youth shaped by pop culture, social pressure, and a country on the brink of upheaval. This Death of Nintendo Blu-ray presents the film in high definition, preserving its playful tone and emotional honesty.
