Eiichi Kudo’s Samurai Revolution Trilogy Limited Edition Blu-ray brings together three of the most uncompromising and politically charged samurai films of the 1960s in a definitive collector’s set. Rejecting the romanticised image of the noble warrior, director Eiichi Kudo exposes the cruelty, corruption, and moral decay at the heart of the Tokugawa shogunate. Spanning 13 Assassins, The Great Killing, and 11 Samurai, the trilogy follows groups of principled samurai driven to assassinate despotic lords, fully aware that success may mean their own destruction. Shot in striking black and white and defined by ferocious swordplay and bleak moral inquiry, these films rank among the most important works in jidaigeki cinema.
