Elegant Beast Limited Edition [Blu-ray]

The Elegant Beast Blu-ray presents a razor-sharp black comedy about the Maeda family, who present a polite and modest façade while hiding a labyrinth of schemes behind the walls of their cramped Tokyo apartment. As creditors, lovers and rivals arrive one by one, their composed veneer cracks, revealing a family fuelled by manipulation, greed and survival instincts shaped by post-war Japan. Adapted by Kaneto Shindo from his own stage play and directed by Yuzo Kawashima, this chamber-piece satire transforms a single location into a battleground of shifting power, duplicity and dark humour.
