Fat City Blu-ray presents John Huston’s deeply humane boxing drama in a 4K restoration from the original negative. Set amid the faded gyms and cheap apartments of Stockton, California, the film follows two fighters at different stages of their careers — a washed-up veteran clinging to one last chance and a hungry young contender chasing his first taste of success.
Anchored by remarkable performances from Stacy Keach and Jeff Bridges, Fat City is a quietly devastating portrait of ambition, regret and endurance. Often cited as one of Huston’s finest late-career achievements, it remains one of the most honest depictions of small-time boxing ever committed to film.
