Folies Meurtrieres; Films of Antoine Pellissier (Standard) [Blu-ray]

Folies Meurtrieres Blu-ray opens a window into the underground world of French outsider filmmaker Antoine Pellissier, a physician by day whose nights were devoted to crafting deeply personal, handcrafted horror cinema. Often compared to Jean Rollin in spirit but far more raw in execution, Pellissier’s films blend dream logic, occult imagery, and DIY aesthetics into singular works that existed almost entirely outside the traditional film industry.

This two-disc collection presents Pellissier’s complete filmography on home video for the first time. From the dreamlike slasher Folies Meurtrieres to the gore-soaked fantasy epic Maleficia, these films trace an evolving vision shaped by obsession, mythology, and uncompromising independence. The set also includes the long-lost uncut version of Les Proies du Mal, Pellissier’s first feature, along with Horrificia and the feature-length documentary Dr. Gore, offering rare insight into his life and work.

Restored from original Super 8 film elements and preserved tape masters, Folies Meurtrieres; Films of Antoine Pellissier stands as a major rediscovery for collectors of regional, experimental, and underground horror cinema.
