Furious Swords And Fantastic Warriors: The Heroic Cinema Of Chang Cheh [Blu-ray]

Furious Swords And Fantastic Warriors Blu-ray presents a definitive exploration of the heroic, blood-soaked cinema of Chang Cheh, one of the most influential filmmakers in Hong Kong film history. Spanning wuxia epics, Shaolin cycle classics, early kung fu cinema, supernatural fantasy, and operatic martial arts tragedy, this ten-film collection captures the full scope of Chang Cheh’s uncompromising vision.

Often referred to as the “Godfather of Hong Kong cinema,” Chang Cheh reshaped martial arts filmmaking through his emphasis on brotherhood, masculine sacrifice, and stylized violence. Produced during his legendary tenure at Shaw Brothers, the films in this set reflect the evolution of Hong Kong action cinema across the late 1960s and 1970s, from traditional swordplay to full-contact kung fu and mythic spectacle.

This Eureka Classics release brings together ten essential works: King Eagle, Trail Of The Broken Blade, Wandering Swordsman, Men From The Monastery, Shaolin Martial Arts, New Shaolin Boxers, Iron Bodyguard, The Fantastic Magic Baby, The Weird Man, and Trilogy Of Swordsmanship. Each film is presented in high definition with newly revised English subtitles and accompanied by an extensive slate of commentaries and video essays examining Chang Cheh’s enduring influence.

Strictly limited to 2,000 copies, this Blu-ray box set will not be reissued once sold out.
