Into the Forest: Folktales At DEFA LE UK Import Blu-ray collects five enchanting and often unsettling fairy tale adaptations from East Germany’s legendary DEFA studio, presented together for the first time in the UK.

Spanning decades of Märchenfilme, this collection brings together richly stylized interpretations of classic tales, blending whimsy, darkness and striking visual design. From deals with mischievous imps and encounters with the Devil to enchanted forests and cursed transformations, these stories capture both the magic and menace of traditional folklore.

Produced between 1955 and 1977, these films remain a fascinating window into European genre cinema, combining timeless storytelling with unique cultural and political undertones.
