Iphigenia Blu-ray presents Michael Cacoyannis’s powerful 1977 adaptation of Euripides’ tragic masterpiece, newly restored and issued in a limited edition from Radiance. When Agamemnon is commanded by the gods to sacrifice his daughter in exchange for safe passage to Troy, a devastating moral conflict unfolds between duty, ambition, and parental love. Anchored by an extraordinary performance from Irene Papas as Clytemnestra, the film transforms ancient Greek tragedy into a stark, emotionally charged meditation on power, fate, and sacrifice. Nominated for the Palme d’Or and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Iphigenia stands as one of Cacoyannis’s most acclaimed works and a landmark of epic Greek cinema.
