Jeanne la Pucelle Blu-ray presents Jacques Rivette’s monumental two-part portrait of Joan of Arc, rendered with historical intimacy and spiritual gravity. Set in 15th century France, the film follows a young peasant girl (Sandrine Bonnaire) compelled by divine visions to aid her country against English occupation. From lifting the siege of Orléans to witnessing the coronation at Reims, her journey unfolds with quiet resolve and growing legend — before culminating in captivity and trial.
Rather than mythologizing its subject, Rivette grounds the story in lived detail and moral complexity. Anchored by Bonnaire’s magnetic performance, Jeanne la Pucelle becomes both epic and intimate, tracing the transformation of a teenage visionary into a national symbol. This Limited Edition UK Blu-ray restores Rivette’s sweeping historical drama in a new 4K presentation across two discs.
