Kiwi Kult Volume 1 (2000, 2007, 2009) (Australian Import) [Blu-ray]

Kiwi Kult Volume 1: Into the Dark brings together three New Zealand films that approach supernatural horror through cult conspiracies, an alternate society of vampires and an ancient threat beneath Auckland.

The Irrefutable Truth About Demons (2000)

Anthropologist Harry Ballard specialises in exposing occult claims. A disturbing videotape from the Black Lodge cult draws him into an investigation that begins to undermine his confidence in what is real. Karl Urban stars in Glenn Standring’s tale of paranoia and demonic conspiracy.

Perfect Creature (2007)

In an alternate New Zealand, humans and vampires have maintained a fragile coexistence. An epidemic and a renegade vampire threaten that arrangement. Sent to capture the fugitive Edgar, Silus joins a human police captain and uncovers secrets capable of destroying the social order.

Under the Mountain (2009)

Teenage twins Rachel and Theo investigate a sinister neighbouring house and discover the shape-shifting Wilberforces, creatures connected to the volcanoes beneath Auckland. With guidance from Mr. Jones and help from their cousin Ricky, they must recover their shared powers to confront the threat. Jonathan King’s adaptation of Maurice Gee’s novel features Sam Neill and creature effects by Weta Workshop; this edition includes a director-approved grade.
