A summer holiday on Fire Island brings together three bored teenagers who begin testing the boundaries of sex, alcohol and their own freedom. Their apparently carefree friendship changes when a shy fourth teenager joins them, exposing tensions that their games and experiments had kept beneath the surface.

Barbara Hershey, Richard Thomas, Bruce Davison and Catherine Burns star in Frank Perry's unsettling coming-of-age drama, adapted by Eleanor Perry from Evan Hunter's novel. As the group decides who belongs and who can be pushed aside, a season of discovery develops a darker edge of exclusion and cruelty.
