Magical Universe Blu-ray presents Jeremy Workman’s documentary portrait of Al Carbee, an eccentric American artist whose extraordinary creative world is built around an enduring fascination with Barbie dolls.

At 88 years old, Carbee lives largely apart from the outside world, surrounding himself with elaborate photographs, collages and handmade environments populated by Barbie figures. What initially appears unusual gradually reveals the deeply personal artistic universe he has spent decades creating.

Directed by Jeremy Workman, Magical Universe explores creativity, obsession, isolation and the relationship between artist and subject while preserving the singular world of a true outsider artist.
