Maladonna and Malombra [Blu-ray]

Maladonna and Malombra Blu-ray presents two 1984 Italian cult dramas from director Bruno Gaburro, both starring Paola Senatore. Blending period melodrama, gothic mystery and adult-leaning European art-cult atmosphere, the films showcase Senatore in two very different stories of desire, obsession and hidden secrets.

Maladonna 1984

Maria is a wealthy and restless woman living within the confines of 19th-century bourgeois society. When she becomes involved with Alessio, her carefully ordered world begins to shift as she is drawn into a more dangerous and unconventional emotional landscape.

Malombra 1984

Marco travels to stay with his mysterious uncle and becomes haunted by the memory of Carlotta, his uncle’s late wife. When he encounters a woman who appears to resemble her, the story moves into gothic territory where memory, identity and the supernatural begin to blur.

Together, Maladonna and Malombra offer a double feature of Italian cult cinema from Bruno Gaburro, pairing period intrigue with moody atmosphere and gothic unease.
