Marama [Blu-ray]

Marama Blu-ray presents Taratoa Stappard’s gothic horror story set in 1859 North Yorkshire, following a young Māori woman confronting violence, exploitation and the legacy of colonial theft.

Mary arrives from New Zealand to work as governess to the granddaughter of wealthy whaler Sir Cole, only to find herself increasingly trapped within his household. Surrounded by Māori artefacts taken from her homeland, she begins uncovering disturbing truths about Cole’s past and the crimes connected to her own family.

As Mary embraces her Matakite abilities and becomes Marama, she turns her attention toward protecting young Anne and confronting the man responsible for the suffering around them. Blending period gothic horror with Māori history and supernatural elements, Marama stars Ariāna Osborne, Toby Stephens and Umi Myers.
