One Summer of Happiness [Blu-ray]

One Summer of Happiness Blu-ray presents Arne Mattsson’s landmark 1951 Swedish romantic drama in a new 4K restoration by the Swedish Film Institute.

When a young student from the city arrives at a rural farm, he falls in love with the farmer’s 17-year-old daughter. Their relationship quickly meets resistance from her disapproving parents and the local priest, whose traditional views place him at odds with a younger generation seeking greater independence.

One Summer of Happiness became one of Sweden’s biggest international box-office successes and played an influential role in shaping the country’s reputation abroad during the 1950s. The film received the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and an award for Best Music at the Cannes Film Festival.
