Ozploitation Rarities Volume 1 brings together three Australian thrillers on three Blu-ray discs: Crosstalk, Lady, Stay Dead and Final Cut. Restored presentations and more than four hours of supplements revisit a surveillance nightmare, a seaside siege and a deadly game of manipulation. The set includes three individual cases with original artwork.
Crosstalk (1982)
Computer programmer Ed Ballinger is confined to a high-rise apartment while repairing the advanced I-500 surveillance system. Its increasingly strange output suggests that the machine has witnessed a murder. As Ed investigates, the distinction between technological malfunction and a real threat becomes harder to untangle. Mark Egerton's thriller combines voyeurism, artificial intelligence and violent suspense.
Presented from a new 2K transfer approved by cinematographer Vincent Monton.
Lady, Stay Dead (1981)
A wealthy singer living beside a secluded Sydney beach becomes the target of her disturbed gardener. After his obsession turns murderous, the arrival of her sister complicates his attempts to conceal the crime. Trapped in the house and determined to survive, she must outwit an attacker whose tools become weapons in an escalating siege. Terry Bourke directs this abrasive Australian home-invasion thriller.
Presented from a 2K restoration scanned from the 35mm interpositive.
Final Cut (1980)
A documentary cameraman and his journalist girlfriend witness what appears to be a killing at a party hosted by a wealthy entertainment entrepreneur. Worried that their camera captured the crime, their host draws them into a weekend at his Surfers Paradise penthouse. Apparent murders, elaborate deceptions and shifting motives turn their investigation into a dangerous contest in which neither the evidence nor the people around them can be trusted.
Directed by: Mark Egerton, Terry Bourke and Ross Dimsey.
Format: 3 Blu-ray discs Ā· English audio Ā· English subtitles.
