Popcorn: Special Edition [Blu-ray]

The Popcorn Blu-ray revives one of the most beloved cult slashers of the early ’90s with a sharp new high-definition transfer and a treasure chest of bonus features. When a group of film students hosts an all-night Horrorthon in an abandoned movie palace, the evening’s William Castle-style gimmicks quickly give way to real terror. Maggie, plagued by recurring nightmares tied to a notorious short film called The Possessor, soon finds fiction bleeding into reality as a masked murderer begins stalking the audience and crew. With its mix of retro B-movie tributes, ’80s slasher energy, and a stacked genre cast—including Jill Schoelen, Dee Wallace, Tony Roberts, Ray Walston and Kelly Jo Minter—Popcorn remains a wildly inventive celebration of movie-theatre mayhem.
