Popeye [4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray]

Popeye 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray brings Robert Altman's ambitious live-action adaptation of the beloved comic strip to 4K. Featuring Robin Williams in his first starring film role and Shelley Duvall in a pitch-perfect performance as Olive Oyl, this colourful musical fantasy has become a cult favourite thanks to its distinctive visual style, memorable songs and offbeat charm.

Arriving in the quirky seaside town of Sweethaven, the wandering sailor Popeye begins searching for his long-lost father. Along the way, he falls for the spirited Olive Oyl, whose future has already been promised to the intimidating Bluto. As Popeye becomes entangled in the lives of the town's eccentric residents, an abandoned infant named Swee' Pea unexpectedly changes everything. With newfound friendships and family connections guiding his journey, Popeye must discover what truly makes him special.

Rather than following the style of the classic animated shorts, director Robert Altman embraces the spirit of E.C. Segar's original comic strip, creating a richly detailed world filled with overlapping dialogue, unforgettable characters and whimsical adventure. Decades after its release, Popeye remains one of the most unique and fascinating comic-strip adaptations ever brought to the screen.
