Scary Stories [Blu-ray]

Scary Stories Blu-ray explores the cultural legacy of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the influential children’s horror book series that frightened generations of young readers while becoming one of the most frequently challenged series in America.

Through interviews with scholars, folklorists, librarians, artists and authors, the documentary examines the folklore behind Alvin Schwartz’s stories, the unforgettable illustrations associated with the books and the controversy surrounding their place in children’s literature.

Featuring R.L. Stine, members of the Schwartz family and other writers and experts, Scary Stories looks at how the series became a lasting part of horror culture and why its stories and imagery continue to resonate decades after publication.
