Schoolgirl Yuka discovers unexpected psychic abilities when she prevents an accident. Meanwhile, a sinister influence begins transforming her school: students police the corridors, suppress disagreement and impose a programme of re-education. As Yuka learns to understand her powers, she must confront a threat extending far beyond the classroom.

Nobuhiko Obayashi combines teenage fantasy, elaborate visual effects and an alien-invasion story in this confrontation between authoritarian control and individual freedom.
