Sentimental Value [4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray]

Sentimental Value 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray is Joachim Trier’s richly layered meditation on family, memory, and the fragile space between hurt and healing. Following the death of their mother, two sisters confront the return of their estranged father, celebrated filmmaker Gustav Borg (Stellan Skarsgård), whose homecoming reopens emotional fault lines long left unspoken. For Nora (Renate Reinsve), herself an actor, reconciliation becomes entangled with art when Gustav asks her to star in his new film — a gesture that both bridges and deepens the distance between them.

Balancing humor with ache, Trier draws luminous performances from an ensemble that includes Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas in a breakout turn and Elle Fanning. This director-approved edition from The Criterion Collection reveals a stunning exploration of how the past reverberates in the present — and how cinema itself can transform pain into catharsis.
