Shadow Wars: The Elusive Kinji Fukasaku Collection (Standard Edition) (Australian Import) [Blu-ray]

Shadow Wars: The Elusive Kinji Fukasaku Collection delivers a raw, unfiltered look at postwar Japan through the lens of master filmmaker Kinji Fukasaku. Expanding on his groundbreaking “jitsuroku” style, these films strip away the myth of honour among criminals and expose a chaotic world where cops, gangsters, and politicians are bound by corruption, survival, and shifting loyalties.

Brutal, fast-paced, and grounded in realism, this collection captures Fukasaku at his most uncompromising, blending handheld camerawork, frenetic editing, and overlapping dialogue into a relentless cinematic assault. Featuring Cops vs Thugs, Cross the Rubicon!, and Hokuriku Proxy War, this set stands as an essential document of 1970s Japanese crime cinema at its most volatile and influential.
