Short Films Of Yuri Norstein Vol. 3 [Blu-ray]

Short Films Of Yuri Norstein Vol. 3 Blu-ray presents the most expansive and authoritative collection of Yuri Norstein’s animated masterpieces ever assembled on Blu-ray. Spanning works from 1968 to 1979, this volume charts the evolution of Norstein’s singular poetic style, blending folklore, history, memory, and dream logic into some of the most celebrated animated films of all time. From the revolutionary imagery of The 25th, the First Day and the mythic grandeur of The Battle of Kerzhenets to the gentle humour of The Fox & the Hare and the aching romantic misfires of The Heron & the Crane, each short showcases Norstein’s meticulous cut-out animation and emotional depth. Anchoring the collection are two universally revered works: Hedgehog in the Fog, often cited as one of the greatest animated films ever made, and The Tale of Tales, Norstein’s haunting, expansive meditation on love, war, and loss. Newly restored by Deaf Crocodile, this release also includes a feature-length documentary on Norstein’s unfinished magnum opus The Overcoat, making it an essential edition for animation enthusiasts and film historians alike.
