Boston private investigator Spenser combines a former police officer’s instincts with an appetite for literature, good food and difficult causes. He takes on cases that bring him into contact with criminals, frightened clients and people whose respectable appearances conceal dangerous secrets. His formidable friend Hawk provides muscle and an independent moral code, while contacts on the force help him negotiate the city’s shifting loyalties. The risks of his work also strain his personal relationships, particularly his bond with Susan Silverman. Based on Robert B. Parker’s novels, this crime series pairs Robert Urich and Avery Brooks in stories driven by friendship, streetwise humour and a stubborn belief in doing what is right.
