Ten Canoes (2006) (Australian Import) [Blu-ray]

Ten Canoes (2006) Blu-ray presents Rolf de Heer and Peter Djigirr’s acclaimed Australian drama in a region free release featuring a new 4K restoration from original elements. Set across two time periods, the film uses a story-within-a-story structure to explore tradition, desire, patience and consequence.

In the old times, young warrior Dayindi joins his older brother Minygululu on a goose-egg hunting expedition through the swamp. Knowing that Dayindi desires his youngest wife, Minygululu tells him a cautionary tale from mythical times, using the story to warn him about acting on forbidden longing.

Distinctive, beautifully photographed and deeply rooted in Yolngu culture, Ten Canoes is a landmark of Australian cinema and the first feature film made primarily in Indigenous Australian languages. This Blu-ray edition includes the 4K restoration, new documentary, Sydney Film Festival Q&A, archival making-of materials, mini documentaries, galleries and trailer.
