The Aura (2005) (Australian Import) [Blu-ray]

The Aura Blu-ray presents Fabián Bielinsky’s hypnotic 2005 psychological thriller in a region free Australian import release with slipcover. From the director of Nine Queens, the film stars Ricardo Darín as a quiet, isolated taxidermist whose fascination with crime pulls him into a dangerous real-world heist.

Esteban Espinosa lives a withdrawn life while imagining the perfect crime. During a hunting trip, an unexpected accident puts him in the place of a criminal who had been planning to rob an armoured car carrying casino profits.

Seeing an opportunity, Espinosa assumes the dead man’s identity and attempts to take over the scheme. But his lack of criminal experience, fragile health and the dangerous people surrounding the robbery soon place him far beyond his control. Winner of Best Director honours at the Cartagena Film Festival, Clarín Awards and Silver Condor Awards, The Aura is a tense, atmospheric thriller from one of Argentina’s most acclaimed filmmakers.
