A jewel thief known as the Bat is eluding the police when a bank robbery brings suspicion to a nearby mansion. Cornelia Van Gorder has rented the house from the absent bank president, but her stay is interrupted by unexplained noises, moving shadows and a warning to leave.
Believing the stolen money may be concealed on the property, Cornelia and her guests search for a hidden room. As guests begin turning up dead, the mystery becomes a race to uncover the masked intruder before he strikes again. Roland West directs Chester Morris, Una Merkel, William Bakewell and Grayce Hampton.
This edition presents three versions of the film: the widescreen Magnifilm version, the U.S. 35mm version and the British 35mm version.
